The City of Kitakyushu was selected as a Future City and is a city of active eco projects.
A concentration of companies and research facilities in the Hibikinada District are carrying out environmental research and recycling programs.
Kitakyushu Eco Town Center sits at the center and introduces the Eco Town and the Next-Generation Energy Park, as well as carries out guided tours of recycling plants and wind power facilities. (*Guided tours require application 2 weeks in advance of the tour day).
The exhibit space can be freely viewed to learn about recycling resources and energy.
Ten wind turbines with large blades 75m in diameter and towers measuring 65m high serve as a symbol of this area. The wind power facility creates electricity that is used by approx. 10,000 homes in 1 year.

FareEco Town Center is free. Touring Eco Town project requires a fee for plant tour materials. Adults (High school students and up) ¥100; children ¥50 (however, city residents and persons/students commuting to the city are free)
