There are numerous literary figures associated with the City of Kitakyushu, such as the great writer MORI Ogai and the pioneer of female poets, SUGITA Hisajo. Many traces of them remain even today in the city.
In 2017, Kitakyushu Literature Salon opened to share the charms of "Kitakyushu, a city of literature."
In addition to a panel display of authors linked to this city, the salon introduces social events and information on nearby cultural facilities, provides information on tourism and walking the city, and conducts planned events such as fun lectures and reading groups.
