The City of Kitakyushu aims to be Kyushu's leading pilgrimage destination for Japanese pop culture, including manga, anime, games, and idols (pop stars). Uniting many subculture specialized stores, Aruaru City is the center of information in this field.

The eight-story building, from the basement to the seventh floor, is filled with stores specializing in manga, anime, figures, cosplay, games, idols, etc., and has an event space where performances by voice actors/actresses and idols are held mainly on weekends.

In 2014, the Kitakyushu Pop Culture Festival was held at Aruaru City and Asano Shiokaze Park. The pop culture of Kitakyushu is livening up, and no one can stop its energy!
