See, Play, Experience Jokamachi-Chofu Area

This is the place believed to have been the site of the Toyouranomiya palace, where Emperor Chuai and Empress Jingu stayed for seven years when they suppressed a powerful clan in Kyushu. In accordance with the legend about immigrants presenting the gift of silkworms to Emperor Chuai, a monument to the site of the introduction of silkworms to Japan stands here. The treasure hall in the precincts exhibits some 100 items, including important national cultural properties. The festival called Suhoteisai, held for one week from August 7 every year, is known as an "extraordinarily strange festival."
