Wakamatsu Minami Kaigan-dori Street overlooking Wakato Bridge is a retro promenade where modern architecture from the Taisho period remains.
The Former Furukawa Mining, Wakamatsu Bldg. can be called a symbol of the street and is a Renaissance-style building constructed in 1919.
Though at one point consideration was given to tearing it down, preservation and repair construction took place and it was renewed in 2004 as a central facility for exchange, culture, and tourism.
The exterior brick construction is lovely and appears even more attractive when illuminated at night.
Nearby are the Ueno Bldg. housing cafes and variety shops, Tochiki Bldg. , Former Gonzo Shed, and Sekitan Hall. Visitors can enjoy a stroll into the past that brings to mind the Wakamatsu of yesteryear.

(日本語) 若松区にある創業１２０年を超える老舗料亭「金鍋」。本館は瓦葺の木造3階建で、黒壁漆喰の重厚な外観が特徴。お店の建物と表門は平成１６年に国登録の有形文化財に認定されました。
夜になると窓からほんのりともれる光がなんともお洒落です。

(日本語) 昭和１５・6年ごろ空襲に備えて、消火活動に使用するため若松市街地に井戸が掘られ、消火用手押しポンプが設置されました。その一部が、ウエル本町通りの両側に3か所ずつ、現在も残っています。

「茂兵衛（もへえ）まんじゅう」（白あん・黒あん）が有名です。白あんは一般的な白あんとは違い、飴色をしているのが特徴。
