The Kanmon Straits area is located on the northern tip of Kyushu, even further north than Kitakyushu, and has been important to maritime transportation since long ago. There are still many buildings remaining from that time at Mojiko, formerly considered one of the three major ports of Japan, including the Former Moji Mitsui Club and Former Moji Customs Building. Also, be sure to take notice of the Kanmon Straits fireworks display, a large event that boasts an attendance of over one million spectators. The area is an exemplary Kitakyushu tourist area, bustling with many travelers every year.
